About The Position

STGi is currently seeking a Dentist to provide medical consultation and case review evaluations on Worker's Compensation cases. The position is open to candidates nationwide and is fully remote. The Dentist will provide dental consultation and case review evaluations on Workers’ Compensation cases, primarily for the Department of Labor (DOL) on Federal Employee Compensation Act cases. This includes completing training on DFEC policy, procedures, and regulations prior to performing case reviews and performing dental consultation in accordance with FOH’s policy and standard operating procedures. The role supports the dental and consultative needs for the Department of Labor (DOL) and other federal agency (when requested) workers’ compensation programs. The Dentist will evaluate workers’ compensation case files, interpret dental reports, evaluate dental evidence and test results, translate technical dental language, and provide guidance or instruction to customer agencies regarding general dental issues that pertain to workers’ compensation cases. Specific case reviews include Dental Review (Routine and Complex), Impairment Rating (Routine and Complex), Death Claim Review, and Expedited Review for catastrophic dental injury cases. The Dentist must demonstrate a strong level of technical expertise, the ability to work and communicate orally and in writing, render dental opinions with a reasonable degree of medical certainty, and possess strong technical knowledge regarding federal safety and health and workers’ compensation regulations. High level of professional conduct is expected. The role may require hands-on examinations if privileged by FOH, rendering professional opinions related to work clearances or recommendations. Monthly billing must be submitted in the specified format and by specified deadlines. The Dentist receives program direction from the FOH Medical Director and must comply with DFEC program requirements regarding access to and use of DOL databases or applications containing confidential information.

Requirements

  • Must complete training on DFEC policy, procedures, and regulations prior to performing case reviews.
  • Must perform dental consultation in accordance with FOH’s policy and standard operating procedures.
  • Must evaluate workers’ compensation case files, interpret dental reports, evaluate dental evidence and test results, translate technical dental language, and provide guidance or instruction to customer agencies regarding general dental issues that pertain to workers’ compensation cases.
  • Must perform DOL FECA case reviews in accordance with DOL FECA regulations.
  • Must provide written opinions for dental review cases within 10 business days of receipt.
  • Must provide written dental opinion response for complex case type within 20 business days of receipt.
  • Must provide a written opinion for impairment rating case reviews within 10 or 20 business days of receipt for simple and complex cases, respectively.
  • Must provide a written opinion for death claim review cases within 10 business days of receipt.
  • Must provide written dental opinions for expedited review cases within 3 business days of receipt.
  • Must demonstrate a strong level of technical expertise in performing dental consultation for workers’ compensation cases.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work and communicate orally and in writing.
  • Must render dental opinions with a reasonable degree of medical certainty.
  • Must provide clear written rationale for dental opinions.
  • Must possess a strong technical knowledge regarding federal safety and health and workers’ compensation regulations.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of professional conduct.
  • Must submit monthly billing in the specified format and by specified deadlines.
  • Must comply with DFEC program requirements regarding access to and use of DOL databases or applications that contain confidential dental, medical and personal information.

  • Provide written opinions for dental review cases within specified business days (10 for routine, 20 for complex, 10 or 20 for impairment ratings, 10 for death claims, 3 for expedited).
  • Demonstrate a strong level of technical expertise in performing dental consultation for workers’ compensation cases and an ability to work and communicate orally and in writing.
  • Render dental opinions with a reasonable degree of medical certainty and provide clear written rationale for these dental opinions.
  • Possess a strong technical knowledge regarding federal safety and health and workers’ compensation regulations.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professional conduct.
  • Provide expert dental advice and consultation to FOH and its federal customer agencies on worker’s compensation issues.
  • May be required to conduct hands-on examinations (if so privileged by FOH), render a professional opinion as it relates to work clearances or recommendations consistent with the examination findings and established physical qualifications.
  • Submit monthly billing in the specified format and by specified deadlines.
  • Comply with DFEC program requirements regarding access to and use of DOL databases or applications that contain confidential dental, medical and personal information.
