About The Position

The Dentist will provide basic primary dental care to the patients of Union Community Care (UCC). This includes diagnostic, preventive, restorative, periodontal, oral surgery, and anterior endodontic services. The role also involves patient referrals to specialists, oral health education, and consultation with physicians when appropriate. Maintaining legal documentation, accurate coding for billing, and participating in continuing education are also key aspects of the position. Additionally, the Dentist will provide guidance to dental assistants and front office staff, offer off-hours telephone coverage, and participate in meetings and training sessions as directed. This position is considered essential for fulfilling the mission of Union Community Care.

Requirements

  • Active Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Dental License
  • Active DEA Number at UCC
  • Dental Degree (D.D.S. or D.M.D.) from Accredited Dental School
  • Successful completion of UCC’s credentialing process
  • Participation in all insurance plans that UCC accepts
  • English proficiency required

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic primary dental care for patients including diagnostic, preventive, restorative, periodontal, oral surgery, and anterior endodontic services.
  • Provide patient referrals to specialists when procedures fall outside the scope of service the provider is able to provide, impacted teeth, surgical periodontal and endodontic procedures, and orthodontic procedures.
  • Facilitate oral health education for patients both clinically and in outreach settings.
  • Consult with patients’ physicians when appropriate.
  • Maintain legible, legal documentation in patient charts as directed by department policies.
  • Participate in continuing education to stay abreast on new techniques and procedures in the field of dentistry.
  • Accurately code procedures following each dental visit.
  • Follow procedures for ensuring prior authorization is received before initiation of the procedures that require pre-authorization.
  • Provide guidance and direction for dental assistants and front office staff.
  • Provide off-hours telephone coverage for dental patients of UCC.
  • Participate in any meeting, seminars, or training sessions as directed by the Dental Director or CEO.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
