About The Position

Pillars Community Health is seeking a Dentist to provide comprehensive oral health care services to patients. This role involves direct patient care, accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient education. The Dentist will collaborate with clinic operations to improve patient well-being, ensure clinic productivity, and achieve quality outcomes. Responsibilities include maintaining patient records, adhering to best practices, and ensuring confidentiality. The position also involves participation in quality improvement programs, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to all relevant laws and regulations, including OSHA and HIPAA. Continuous professional development and participation in staff meetings are expected.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Active and unrestricted Illinois Dental License.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current DEA certification.
  • Medicaid and Medicare provider numbers required for credentialing and privileging.
  • Knowledge of electronic health records, ECW preferred.
  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily.
  • Ability to meet mobility requirements including navigating stairs, inclines, ramps, and various surfaces.
  • Ability to lift/carry objects up to 30 lbs. and assist patients.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years clinical experience preferred.
  • Community health experience preferred.
  • Expertise related to trends and issues, laws and regulations associated with delivery of oral healthcare services.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement, peer review and credentialing processes preferred.
  • Experience working with Medicare population also helpful.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and deliver competent, accurate dental care and treatment in accordance with Pillars Community Health Scope of Practice guidelines, agency privileging, and the Illinois Dental Practice Act.
  • Collaborate with clinic operations to improve productivity, patient satisfaction, and financial outcomes.
  • Diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, and deliver high-quality care to improve patient well-being.
  • Educate patients and families about oral health, self-care, and dental hygiene.
  • Participate in telephone support for patients, including after-hours as directed.
  • Ensure patient records, charts, and documentation are current, consistent with best practices, agency policies, and relevant laws/regulations.
  • Document and code patient care, including findings and treatment plans.
  • Maintain patient information confidentiality.
  • Assist in compiling statistical data and patient outcomes for agency needs.
  • Participate in agency quality performance programs.
  • Help maintain a safe and clean patient care environment.
  • Adhere to OSHA guidelines for a safe work environment.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and the Pillars Community Health Compliance Program.
  • Participate in clinical staff meetings and updates on patient care management.
  • Participate in continuing professional development to stay informed of clinical practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Follow all rules required to comply with confidentiality and HIPAA policies.
  • Attend department, CQI, and All Staff Meetings as assigned/required.
