About The Position

WIHD is seeking a part-time Dentist to work on their mobile dental van 2-3 days per week. The ideal candidate is courteous, organized, enjoys working as part of a treatment team, and is interested in working with the special needs population. While not required, availability on Mondays and Tuesdays is preferred. The WIHD Dental Center provides a full range of specialized dental services and ongoing care for individuals with disabilities, aiming to establish a "dental home" for both adults and children. Services are offered at WIHD's state-of-the-art dental suite, on their mobile Dental Van which travels throughout the Hudson Valley Region, and at the Westchester Medical Center. The mobile dental van is equipped with two dental operatories and serves both the lower and upper Hudson Valley areas. WIHD is one of 67 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, dedicated to improving futures for individuals with disabilities through innovative research, professional leadership education, and best practices training. Requirements

• Possession of a valid license and current registration, issued by the New York State Education Department in dentistry;
• 1 - 2 years of private or hospital dental practice, or a graduate of an accredited 1 year general practice residency program.

• Ideally be available Monday and Tuesdays to work

Responsibilities

• Performs semi-annual dental services, including: oral clinical examination; dental x-rays, if needed; dental prophylaxis;
• Provide dental operative and prosthodontic treatment as needed, including: amalgam and composite fillings, crowns, removable partials or complete dentures, as needed;
• Perform Periodontal debridement, scaling and root planning as needed;
• Student Training which consists of student observation of behavior management, dental procedures and student assisting when appropriate and circumstances allow.
