About The Position

The Zia Health Clinic is a comprehensive healthcare facility offering a range of services to the community. The clinic provides general medical services and hosts specialized clinics for dental care, diabetes, women's health, pediatrics, and audiology. Alongside medical services, the clinic features a pharmacy and benefits coordination. The Dentist performs professional dental work in the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in routine and emergency settings within the scope of services. Dental care includes but it not limited to, providing diagnostic, preventive, restorative, periodontal, and prosthetic services.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited dental school approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA) and possess a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree.
  • Specialty Dentist must be a graduate of a dental specialty training program that is accredited by the CODA or the ADA or an accepted equivalent program.
  • Certification: Board eligible or board certified as required.
  • Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service Specific Credentialing instruction.
  • Shall have a minimum of one (1) full year experience being employed on a full-time basis in the practice of dentistry or be a recent 1-year graduate of an accredited, post-graduate dentistry training program.
  • Dental specialists shall have a certificate of training in their specialty area from an ADA accredited residency program.
  • Must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a dentist.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full array of general dentistry services for patients, including extractions, fillings, root canals, crowns, bridges, dentures, and partial dentures.
  • Examine patients' teeth and supporting structures.
  • Determine the nature and extent of existing oral disease.
  • Prepare charts of teeth and the oral cavity.
  • Develop plan for treatment of infection including antibiotic treatment, the restoration of carious teeth, the extraction of teeth, and the replacement of missing teeth with bridgework or dentures.
  • Administer local anesthesia as needed.
  • Provide patient education about good dental health practices, post-operative care and participates in educational programs for the improvement of health conditions among service population.
  • Make referrals to other specialists as needed.
