About The Position

Diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums, and related oral structures. Examines patient to determine nature of condition utilizing dental radiographs, dental instruments, and other diagnostic procedures. The patient population make-up will consist primarily of patients ages 12 and above. In addition to General Dentists’ duties of patient oral health education, prevention dentistry, diagnosing and restoring dental issues, the Dentist Prosthodontist specializes in repairing dental problems surrounding tooth loss and jaw issues. Aims to improve the function and the aesthetics of the teeth, mouth and jaw by replacing tooth tissues and teeth and oral structures. Repairs oral functional issues caused by chronic dental neglect and tooth loss such as collapsed bite. Specializes in Fixed and Removable prosthesis. Treats soft hard tissues diseases of the oral cavity; performs surgery on oral tissues when necessary; renders prosthetic treatment when approved and indicated; designs and places orthodontic devices to correct minor malocclusion of teeth and renders any and all dental services to restore the oral health of the patient. Provides preventive dental services to patient, such as applications of fluoride and sealants to teeth, and provides education in oral health and dental hygiene. Provides quality oral health care as mandated by State and Federal agencies. The provider participates in Oral Health Peer Review Process, which includes Chart Audits, Peer Group Review and Post Operatory X-ray reviews while achieving set clinical goals. While providing high quality dental services, the provider is expected to obtain 16 patient encounters per day on a monthly average. Coordinates the preparation of reports and written documentation as required by the department, company, state and federal agencies. Makes sound decisions in routine work, as well as in difficult situations, while working with patients, support staff and management. Works independently by independently planning work and/or proceeding with routine dental procedures. Works toward the achievement of personal and/or department goals. Demonstrates dependability and responsiveness to the patient’s oral health needs. Is culturally competent, displays general courtesy and friendliness to all patients. Maintains patient confidence and trust, which is paramount. Works with others as a team member. Demonstrates high level of dependability and responsiveness to other employees. Regularly supports the goals and objectives of the Health Center or work area and works cooperatively with other employees in meeting patient expectations/needs. Adheres to safety and infection control standards in the performance of the job and participation in safety and infection control related activities. Complies with established departmental policies/procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

Requirements

  • 2 years’ experience preferred.
  • Supervision of dental assistants preferred.
  • DDS Degree from an accredited US Dental School.
  • Successful completion of an accredited course in Prosthodontics (up to 3 years).
  • Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of California.
  • DEA License.
  • BLS certificate.
  • Certificate from a Prosthodontics residency accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA) and/or Dental Board.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful.
  • Good oral and written communication.
  • Good communications skills with the public and other employees.
  • Patience and understanding toward others.
  • Computer skills involving word processing, email and dental management programs such as Dentrix are preferable.
  • Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs.
  • Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs clinical duties within the scope of license.
  • Consults with patients and advises them of their dental status, prescribes the treatment required, provides risks and alternatives and documents according to department, company, state and federal agency guidelines.
  • Cleans, restores, extracts, and replaces teeth, using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medications, and surgical equipment.
