About The Position
Michael J. Williams Periodontics & Dental Implants is seeking a Part-Time Dental Surgical Assistant to join their established specialty practice in Pittsfield, MA. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced periodontist, assist with advanced periodontal and implant procedures, and develop valuable surgical skills in a modern specialty environment. The successful candidate will become an important part of a close-knit clinical team focused on delivering exceptional care before, during, and after treatment. This position is ideal for someone with dental assisting experience looking to advance into specialty surgical dentistry.
Requirements
- Previous dental assisting experience required
- Radiography certification required
- Current CPR certification required
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization, infection control, and clinical safety protocols
- Strong chairside, communication, and organizational skills
- Professional, dependable, calm, and patient-focused
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
Nice To Haves
- Surgical, periodontal, implant, oral surgery, endodontic, or prosthodontic assisting experience strongly preferred
- Dental assisting education/certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide chairside surgical assistance during periodontal, implant, and related procedures
- Prepare patients, operatories, surgical instruments, materials, and equipment for procedures
- Take digital x-rays and assist with 3D scanning and diagnostic imaging
- Assist with anesthesia preparation and monitor patient vital signs during procedures
- Follow surgical sterilization, infection-control, biohazard, and OSHA protocols
- Educate and reassure patients regarding treatment and pre- and post-operative instructions
- Maintain accurate patient charts, treatment documentation, and clinical records
- Maintain surgical instruments, equipment, supplies, and implant inventory
- Collaborate with the provider and clinical team to maintain efficient surgical flow and an exceptional patient experience
