Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 year experience as a Dental Assistant or in an Operating Room environment preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and computer experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for instrument sterilization processes for assigned areas.
  • Follows all infection control protocols, ensures instruments are properly cleaned, sterilized, maintained and distributed.
  • Provides aid to the clinical staff when necessary.
  • Maintains responsibility for the daily operations of sterilization areas at dental practices.
  • Ensures instruments are properly cleaned and sterilized.
  • Maintains adequate instrument quantities for daily operational support.
  • Follows established infection control policies and procedures.
  • Monitors, cleans and organizes the sterilization equipment and general areas.
  • Completes all required logs.
  • Maintains and orders inventory for sterilization equipment, instruments, lab supplies and monitors the performance of sterilization equipment, recommending repairs and replacements as needed.
  • Collects data for quality improvement and attends infection control meetings.
  • Disseminates information as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
