Dental Receptionist - Emergency and Limited Care Treatment Clinic
About The Position
The University of Louisville School of Dentistry prepares students for a career in Dentistry. Dental Clinic Staff are an integral part of that preparation in that they facilitate the interface between student providers and their patients during a critical time in their studies, within the clinic setting. While their first two years are spent in a traditional classroom setting, student providers spend their last two years in a dental clinic setting learning hands on. All Dental Clinic Staff directly support the work of the students as they progress towards completion of their clinical requirements. The Dental School's Emergency and Limited Care Treatment Clinic is located at 501 S. Preston Street, Louisville, KY 40202. As a first point of contact, this position delivers customer service to our patient population via telephone.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED and up to two (2) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Grade 1 (Hourly)
Responsibilities
- Works with faculty, peers and supervisors to deliver customer service oriented and patient centered care within the DMD clinics.
- Participates with a team in the delivery of customer service via telephone.
- Discern the needs of callers and address that need during first contact, if possible.
- Direct caller to the appropriate area when necessary.
- Make decisions independently according to protocol.
- Make appointments for patients of record, when appropriate.
- Register new patients, collecting demographic information.
- Collect and verify patient insurance information.
- Conduct financial transactions: accept and post payments, issue receipts, and balance at end of day.
- Continue to be a resource to patients by answering questions regarding billing, payment plans, treatment plans and insurance coverage.
- Maintains HIPAA, OSHA and Infection Control compliance at all times.
- Other duties as assigned
