About The Position

The Dental Receptionist I is responsible for performing various administrative and customer service duties in a dental clinic setting. This includes managing patient check-in and check-out, handling phone calls, verifying insurance information, ensuring all necessary forms are completed, creating and maintaining patient charts, scanning and photocopying documents, providing excellent customer service, building patient rapport, collecting payments, and processing referrals. The role also involves maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, managing office supplies, and potentially traveling to other clinics for coverage.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma OR equivalent
  • One year of experience in customer service, office, or clinical setting preferred
  • Experience using multi-line phones, scheduling appointments, and using computers
  • Ability to provide translation in Spanish
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner
  • Ability to cooperate and collaborate with a team of dental professionals to provide non-discriminatory care to underserved patient populations
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to learn and use Electronic Health Record Systems (e.g., IMS, EPIC and Dentrix)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high volume environment
  • Ability to prioritize and perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to take initiative and function with a high level of independence and problem-solve
  • Ability to maintain a good attendance and report to work on time
  • Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written)
  • Ability to provide good customer/patient services
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for 7-8 hours per day
  • Ability to adhere to the health center’s policies and procedures include but not limited to safety, employment and dental care services

Responsibilities

  • Answering phones
  • Checking patients in and out
  • Confirming insurance eligibility
  • Ensuring all consent forms are signed and updated
  • Creating patient charts
  • Scanning/photocopying required documents
  • Providing great customer service
  • Building good patient rapport
  • Collecting copayment and coinsurance
  • Processing referrals
  • Registering patients and getting patient charts on sign in sheet
  • Responding to patient questions and/or concerns according to office Policies
  • Maintaining appointment books
  • Confirming appointments
  • Following up on no shows/ cancellations of appointments
  • Chart filing/scanning/updating
  • Cash Handling/daily bookkeeping
  • Checking and responding to voicemails, faxes, emails, and portal messages
  • Maintaining a clean and friendly environment for providers and patients
  • Stocking front office supplies and notifying necessary personnel to order low inventory
  • Traveling to other dental clinics to provide coverage
  • Pulling and providing dental records as requested per policies
  • Processing dental referrals
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager
