About The Position

The Dental Patient Representative I is responsible for providing information regarding FHCN dental services to patients and their families and administering daily activities of the office. This role involves managing provider schedules, verifying insurance, confirming appointments, maintaining patient records, and providing customer service. The position also includes collecting payments, assisting with billing inquiries, and ensuring the office is adequately supplied.

Requirements

  • Proof of completion of high school with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or completion of General Educational Development (GED) with a minimum overall score of 162.5.
  • If an individual has completed a degree at a higher level than required by the role and had a stronger GPA in that program, they may provide proof of GPA from that degree in lieu of the high school diploma.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a front office or healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in administrative duties (scheduling, registration, data entry, and records management).
  • Demonstrated experience in business functions (insurance verification, authorizations, payment collection, and billing support).
  • Demonstrated experience in front-facing customer service (patient interaction, high-volume phone handling, and issue resolution).
  • Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information.
  • Ability to create basic presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Effective communication of routine or non-technical information to co-workers and others.
  • Effective communication of written information (including electronic correspondence) and verbal presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Running daily provider schedules and conducting all necessary follow-up.
  • Verifying insurance information is current prior to patient’s visit (running eligibility).
  • Confirming patients for the following day during appointment confirmation phone call and informing patient of co-pay amount due at time of visit.
  • Following up on “no show” patients and maintaining the recall system.
  • Educating and signing patients into the FHCN portal.
  • Maintaining supplies and stocking items, including new storage and temporary charts, necessary forms, and identification cards.
  • Maintaining adequate inventory of all required supplies.
  • Collecting and attaching billing information from patients.
  • Balancing cash payments daily.
  • Assuring accurate CPT and DX codes before submitting superbills.
  • Providing financial counseling and referrals for program eligibility.
  • Sending patient’s information to billing department for any needed pre-authorizations.
  • Providing customer service to patients.
  • Receiving incoming calls and directing them to the appropriate party.
  • Establishing, maintaining, and updating patient records and files.
  • Generating paperwork to register patients for network services.
  • Scheduling, rescheduling, and screening appointments.
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and patient financial status.
  • Registering, inputting, and updating patient information.
  • Inputting provider schedules.
  • Collecting and attaching bills and billing information daily.
  • Working with billing department to resolve patient’s concerns.
  • Adhering to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy.
  • Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location, both at the beginning of a shift or during a shift, based on business need.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
