About The Position

A full-time position for an Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Clinical supervision is provided by the dentists. The Dental Hygienist is directly responsible to the Dental Director.

Requirements

Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene.
Responsible, have good interpersonal skills, good organizational skills, and excellent communication skills.
Ability to gain confidence and cooperation of patients.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees.
Pleasant demeanor when relating to patients in a businesslike manner.
Accurate typing skills.
Visual acuity and manual dexterity to perform procedures, and interface with computer.
Auditory acuity to handle phone calls and extensive patient interaction.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a dental hygienist is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide new patient examinations prior to referral to the dentist if needed.
Expose radiographs.
Provide prophylaxis and fluoride treatments.
Provide scaling and root planing.
Provide local anesthesia with appropriate permit.
Do pit and fissure sealants.
Give instructions on oral hygiene.
Maintain the recall system.
Clean/sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment.
Work closely with the dentists and assistants on patient consultations and preparing treatment plans.
Maintain a clean operatory and equipment.
Adheres to OSHA, emergency preparedness, infection control and regulatory guidelines.
Assist receptionist occasionally in answering phones and making appointments.
