About The Position
Performs routine dental prophylaxis, participates in patient education, trains dental hygiene students with minimal supervision. May require access to storage areas where medications are kept and carry out procedure that require the use of medications. All employees are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's values of compassion, dignity, excellence, integrity and teamwork. This position is bonus eligible.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Dental Hygiene
- SC Registered Dental Hygienist
Nice To Haves
- One (1) year of experience preferred
- Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
- Proficient computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database, data entry)
Responsibilities
- Performs oral prophylaxis; remove hard and soft deposits and stains from the surfaces of teeth; polish all surfaces of teeth.
- Applies topical fluoride to the teeth.
- Exposes and develops radiographs.
- Gives oral hygiene instruction and counseling.
- Provides nutrition and dietary counseling.
- Makes and confirms appointments.
- Reviews medical and dental health history.
- Takes and records blood pressure.
- Charts dental disease.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
