Requirements

• Dental Hygiene license
• X-Ray Certification
• Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene (Bachelor's preferred)
• Current PA State License

Nice To Haves

• Public Health License preferred

Responsibilities

• Seats, positions, and dismisses scheduled hygiene patients.
• Completes preliminary clinic forms.
• Reviews medical history and discuss any problems with the dentist.
• Provides patient education in toothbrush instruction, flossing demonstration, and any additional information as required.
• Performs prophylaxis, i.e. supragingival scaling, subgingival scaling, root planing, gingivalcurrettage, polishing.
• Takes, processes and mounts radiographs for hygiene patients as deemed necessary by the dentist
• Applies topical fluoride on children.
• Assists with first aid procedures.
• Maintains recall system and sends reminder letters to patients for their recall appointment.
• Receives and maintains updated CPR training.
• A dental hygienist may perform any duty delegated to the dental assistant. She may be called upon to assist if there are no hygiene patients available.
