About The Position

UTHealth Houston’s School of Dentistry is hiring for a Dental Dispensary Assistant to join their team of professionals. The DDA will be responsible for inventory management, ordering and receiving supplies to the dispensary, dispensing dental instrumentation and materials to dental and hygiene students, and more. The department is seeking a reliable professional who is an effective communicator and actively demonstrates commitment by maintaining a consistent and predictable work schedule. The ideal candidate is someone who demonstrates accountability in all tasks and responsibilities and not only excels in their individual role but also thrives in a team-oriented environment. Customer service experience is a plus! Provides routine skills in dental dispensary operations, central sterilization operations and patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • None required 1 year of experience in customer service, central sterilization, receiving, storing, issuing, and accounting for dental materials and property preferred
  • Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans, disinfects, packages and sterilizes dental and surgical instruments.
  • Orders and dispenses instruments, dental materials and supplies to students and faculty.
  • Sets up sterile instrument trays for surgical procedures.
  • Operates ultrasonic cleaners and sterilizers.
  • Maintains inventory level and records.
  • Assists in periodic or annual inventory as required.
  • Maintains security of University property in work areas.
  • Ensures proper utilization and compliance with clinic equipment loan policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
