About The Position

Coordinates clinical activities within the Dental Section under the direction of the Dental Director and Dental Services Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent and six (6) years of applicable experience in a dental office and/ or dental clinic.
  • Proven leadership ability, coordination and organization skills are required.
  • Knowledge of dental billing and insurance processes.
  • Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

  • RDA/CDA license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing training of dental support staff at orientation and staff meetings.
  • Monitors daily function of dental support staff to ensure appropriate clinical procedures are adhered to while building teamwork.
  • Establishes work schedules and assigns support staff to duty stations to maximize efficient use of staff and office flow.
  • Observes and assists support staff to ensure safe and ethical practices are applied, and to solve problems and demonstrate techniques.
  • Responsible for ordering dental equipment and supplies and conferring with Dental Director and Dental Services Manager on justification of expenditures requested.
  • Assists in the development, coordination and implementation of programs in dental health education, hygiene, and prevention.
  • Assists Dental Director and Dental Services Manager on dental program contract objectives, obligations and directives.
  • Assists in investigating and resolving client complaints.
  • Provides Dental Front Office Assistant and dental assistant duties in the absence of the Dental Front Office Assistant or dental assistant.
  • Implements clinic policies and procedures directly related to dental personnel.
  • Assists in the implementation and adheres to accreditation regulations and training requirements.
  • Responsible for employee competency skills and performance reviews of support staff.
  • Facilitates communication between dental personnel and other sites/sections as required.
  • Responsible for referral follow-up and completion of all internal and external referrals.
  • Responsible for coordinating all appointments for clients with Contracted Providers and other specialty services.
  • Assists in coordination of community activities; including but not limited to Head Start Screenings and participation in UIHS community functions as assigned.
  • Attends section meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Maintains a professional, organized, and clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
  • Assists in development of section policy, procedures, and quality improvement activities within UIHS as directed.
  • Responsible for periodic review of charts for completion, accuracy and compliance with appropriate standards.
  • Performs all aspects of dental insurance billing including pre-authorizations.
