Requirements

  • Current Texas Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) License
  • Current CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Minimum one (1) year of related dental assistant experience
  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (required)
  • Working knowledge of dental procedures, terminology, and clinical protocols
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office and dental practice management software (Athena Health or similar)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative skills with a positive, professional attitude

Nice To Haves

  • Nitrous oxide sedation monitoring certification
  • Prophylaxis (prophy) certificate
  • Dental sealant application certification

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, and organize materials to ensure efficient, safe clinical operations
  • Assist dentists during procedures by passing instruments and materials with precision and anticipating clinical needs
  • Expose and process dental diagnostic x-rays following all safety protocols
  • Collect and record comprehensive medical and dental histories, take and document vital signs, and provide clear postoperative instructions to patients
  • Maintain meticulous patient records and treatment documentation in compliance with HIPAA and practice standards
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene best practices and plaque control programs to promote long-term dental health
  • Perform preventive care procedures including teeth cleaning, fluoride applications, and sealant placement
  • Fabricate temporary restorations and custom impressions, pour and trim study casts, and clean removable appliances
  • Make preliminary impressions and occlusal registrations for study cases
  • Support emergency management procedures and respond calmly and effectively to medical or dental emergencies
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment by adhering to infection control protocols, OSHA regulations, and practice procedures
  • Manage scheduling, prepare patient bills, process payments, complete insurance forms, and maintain records using dental practice management software
  • Protect patient confidentiality and maintain the highest standards of professional conduct
