This position assists dentists in providing dental care, maintaining dental equipment, supplies, and clinical areas, and ensuring OSHA compliance.

Requirements

  • Pennsylvania Dental Radiology Certification; recertified every four (4) years
  • CPR Certified; recertified every two (2) years
  • Child Abuse Clearance; re-checked every two (2) years
  • Attends fraud, waste, abuse and cultural competency classes every year
  • Knowledge and familiarity with dental and medical terminology
  • Knowledge and use of dental software
  • English proficiency required

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes and prepares patients for dental treatment.
  • Helps patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment.
  • Takes prescribed radiographs (x-rays).
  • Reviews and updates patient health and dental histories.
  • Takes patient’s blood pressure.
  • Makes notes in the dental chart as necessary.
  • Prepares the operatory for procedures.
  • Assists the dentist in performing four-handed dentistry.
  • Provides post-operative and home care instructions.
  • Completes the patient visit by escorting them to the check-out desk.
  • Removes disposable barriers and instruments after each visit.
  • Disinfects all surfaces and supplies using proper pre-cleaning and disinfecting procedures.
  • Replaces barriers and sets up instruments for the next patient.
  • Maintains dental equipment and reports necessary repairs to the Dental PM.
  • Ensures dental supplies are stocked in appropriate areas.
  • Cleans and sterilizes dental equipment after each patient visit.
  • Maintains sterilization equipment.
  • Stocks and pulls tags for dental orders, submitting supply tags to the Dental PM.
  • Maintains dental radiograph sensors and machines.
  • Pours impressions.
  • Tracks dental laboratory cases and communicates with dental labs as needed.
  • Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions.
  • Assists as an interpreter for dental providers when needed.
  • Assists the front desk during times of under-staffing.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
