About The Position

The Dental Assistant will assist the clinic dentist during examination and treatment of patients, includes helping patients remain as comfortable as possible before, during, and after treatment. This role involves preparing patients, sterilizing instruments, setting up trays, and preparing materials. The Dental Assistant will also provide patients with oral care instructions, make study models of patients' teeth, perform administrative assistance, and assist the dentist during treatment. Other duties as assigned will also be carried out.

Requirements

• Licensed by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners
• Certificate of registration issued by the State Board for dental x-rays
• 1 to 3 years of related dental clinic experience
• Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.
• Requires a valid Texas Driver's License, appropriate driving record and auto liability insurance that meets the minimum required
• Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
• Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of dental care.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
• Knowledge of community patient care services in area of expertise.
• Energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
• Superior organizational and problem solving skills

Responsibilities

• Assist the clinic dentist during examination and treatment of patients.
• Help patients remain as comfortable as possible before, during, and after treatment.
• Expose and process dental x-rays.
• Prepare patient, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials.
• Provide patients with oral care instructions following procedures such as surgery or placement of a restoration.
• Make study models of patients teeth.
• Perform administrative assistance to the clinic and scheduling tasks.
• Assist the dentist during treatment.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
