Jewish Family & Career Services of Atlanta (JF&CS) is seeking a skilled, compassionate Dental Assistant to support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care at the Ben Massell Dental Clinic. The Role at a Glance Reports to Director, Dental Clinic Key contributor to daily clinic operations and patient flow Hands-on, fast-paced clinical environment Combines chairside support, patient care, and operational responsibilities This is not a passive support role. Some moments you’ll be assisting chairside during procedures, ensuring efficiency and precision. Others, you’ll be preparing patients, managing instruments, or helping maintain the flow of a busy clinic.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and terminology
  • Understanding of infection control standards and safety protocols
  • Strong chairside assisting and radiography skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and accuracy
  • Completion of an accredited dental assisting program (certification preferred)
  • Dental assisting experience (formal education may be substituted with experience)
  • Radiography proficiency and knowledge of safety practices
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, seat, and dismiss patients while ensuring comfort and understanding
  • Explain procedures and provide post-operative and follow-up instructions
  • Address patient questions and create a supportive, reassuring environment
  • Assist dentists during procedures, anticipating needs and maintaining efficiency
  • Ensure a clear field of view and proper instrument handling throughout procedures
  • Follow strict infection control protocols and OSHA guidelines
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain clean, operatories
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials
  • Take dental X-rays following safety protocols
  • Ensure high-quality, accurate imaging
  • Prepare materials, instruments, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain dental equipment and complete routine maintenance tasks
  • Ensure operatories are fully stocked and prepared
  • Open and close clinic equipment (e.g., vacuum pumps, water systems)
  • Maintain accurate patient records, treatment notes, and documentation
  • Enter clinical data and review records for accuracy daily
  • Support front desk functions, including patient check-in and flow coordination
