About The Position

Cowlitz Family Health Center is seeking dedicated on-call Dental Assistants to provide direct patient care during examinations and treatments. Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vitals, recording chief complaints, and assisting with dental surgeries and procedures. The role requires interaction with patients and coworkers, demonstrating a friendly manner, commitment to service, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. This position is part of a collective bargaining agreement and offers variable shifts between the Longview and Woodland Dental Clinics.

Requirements

High school diploma plus successful completion of a minimum of one academic year of post-secondary education in a dental assisting program from an accredited educational institution or equivalent.
Proficient in Dental terminology and dental office procedures.
Knowledge of dental electronic health records and conventional and digital radiography.
Ability to work with a low-income, multi-ethnic patient population and a demonstrated ability to relate respectfully and effectively to people of diverse racial, educational and socio-economic backgrounds.
Must be a confident, self-directed individual who can work within a team as well as independently.
Strong communication, organization, documentation and record keeping skills necessary.

Nice To Haves

Associates degree in dental assisting and/or certified dental assistant preferred.
1-4 years previous work experience as a Dental Assistant preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

Assists the dentist with direct patient care during the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a dental provider.
Rooms patients, takes vitals, and records chief complaints.
Assists with dental surgeries and procedures.
Interacts regularly with patients, coworkers, and various other people within the dental clinic.
