About The Position

International SOS Government Medical Services is hiring a Dental Assistant to support DOS, DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The Dental Assistant supports dentists with patient care, chairside procedures, imaging, sterilization, documentation, scheduling, and clinic operations in a deployed setting. This role offers hands-on clinical experience, international exposure, and the opportunity to work in a fast-paced federal healthcare environment supporting deployed personnel.

Requirements

  • Completion of a 2-year Dental Assistant program, or a 2-year ADA-accredited Dental Hygiene program with minimum 12 semester hours coursework
  • 3+ years recent DA experience preferred, including 6 months within past year
  • Entry-level candidates considered case-by-case
  • Active/unrestricted Dental Assistant license or registration preferred
  • DANB certification and/or CDA credential preferred
  • Non-certified candidates with approved OJT may perform supportive procedures under dentist supervision
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Experience with digital radiography/imaging
  • Knowledge of sterilization and infection control standards
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident required
  • Ability to obtain/maintain MRPT clearance
  • Valid U.S. Passport with minimum 18 months before expiration
  • Must maintain valid passport during deployment
  • Must meet all pre-deployment medical/physical requirements
  • Ability to stand/sit for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must relocate to Iraq for duration of contract

  • High-volume clinic experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists using four-handed dentistry techniques
  • Prepare/sterilize instruments and operatories
  • Perform traditional and digital dental imaging
  • Maintain patient charts and treatment documentation
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-op care
  • Ensure infection control and OSHA compliance
  • Support billing, coding, and insurance verification
  • Monitor inventory and order supplies
  • Communicate with providers, staff, and patients to maintain clinic workflow
  • Complete required Joint Commission/compliance training
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
