About The Position

This position is located at the Jicarilla Service Unit, Dulce, NM. The role involves providing comprehensive dental services, including exams, restorative treatments, oral health education, and preventive care. The Dental Assistant will diagnose and treat patients according to professional scope and IHS standards, assist in patient care processes while ensuring adherence to safety and infection control standards, and maintain patient records in the EHR and EDR systems. Compliance with Joint Commission and CMS standards in a culturally competent manner, along with participation in quality assurance activities, is also required.

Requirements

Certification from an accredited program or relevant on-the-job experience.
Minimum of 2 years of experience.
BLS certification and preferred radiology certification.
Background check and character investigation as per the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
Credentialing and fingerprinting required before starting.
Ability to work in Remote Areas and travel if necessary, with weather-related travel challenges expected at some locations.

Responsibilities

Provide dental services including exams, restorative treatments, oral health education, and preventive care.
Diagnose and treat patients within professional scope and IHS standards.
Assist in patient care processes, ensuring adherence to safety, infection control, and IHS standards.
Complete and maintain patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Electronic Dental Record (EDR).

Participate in quality assurance activities and adhere to IHS and service unit policies.
