About The Position

Blue Cloud is seeking a part-time Dental Assistant with a passion for serving pediatric and special needs patients. The Dental Assistant (DA) assists in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients by performing routine and delegated duties according to standards and policies. The DA scrubs for surgical procedures, cleans instruments and rooms, monitors inventory, and stocks OR rooms. This role works closely with dentists in providing excellent patient care and will also include front desk duties as a Patient Service Coordinator.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Completion of an Accredited Dental Assistant Program
  • Current state license to practice as a registered dental assistant
  • One year of RDA experience
  • Current BLS Certificate
  • Background and Drug Screening Required

Responsibilities

  • Assist and anticipate the needs of the dentist and anesthesia provider regarding instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies per technique, procedure, and special requirements.
  • Prepare for dental surgical cases by picking supplies and equipment, ensuring all necessary items are available, and maintaining inventory and stock room.
  • Provide care based on the age-related needs of pediatric and adolescent patients, considering their developmental/psychosocial needs, environmental safety, educational needs, communication style, and level of understanding.
  • Assist with patient transfer from bed to gurney.
  • Decontaminate and maintain all equipment, instruments, supplies, and clean surgical rooms between cases and at the end of the schedule as directed by procedure and the RN assigned to the room.
  • Follow surgery center, manufacturer, and CDC guidelines for decontamination and sterilization.
  • Take x-rays and clean/check x-ray equipment.
  • Mix cement and other materials as required.
  • Handle suction hand-pieces and air/water syringes.
  • Ensure delivery of all specimens to the RN Circulator in the room.
  • Stock and clean rooms between cases and at the end of the schedule.
  • Assist with the turnover of the OR.
  • Assist as directed in the delivery of emergency care.
  • Perform front desk duties as a Patient Service Coordinator.
