Dental Services at Mercy Hospital is only one of two dental departments in the entire Cleveland Clinic enterprise. Under the dentist's supervision, the Dental Assistant will perform medical and administrative skills to support patients and dental caregivers. This is a fast-paced environment with back-to-back schedules, requiring a caregiver with a strong work ethic and flexibility. This role offers a three-tier dental assistant model that was created for Dental Assistants’ skill level. Reaching level three will allow you to be a leadership-level assistant, which can then lead to a supervisor role down the line.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • State certified as a Dental Assistant Radiographer
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Knowledge and understanding of the dental management of medically compromised patients to include cardiology, oncology, hematology and infectious disease patients

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of dental assisting experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performing assessments and treatments.
  • Perform diagnostic radiographs.
  • Obtain alginate impressions for diagnostic and/or intra-oral appliances.
  • Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned.
  • Maintain dental equipment and medical supplies, including sterilizing instruments, reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain examination areas.
  • Work in clinical and operating room settings as needed.
