About The Position

You are responsible for your safety and the safety of patients, visitors, and coworkers. In your role as Front Office Dental Assistant, you will report to the Dental Clinic Manager. Your responsibilities team will include maintaining effective interaction with the public and personnel. You will be responsible for performing assigned duties under the supervision of the dental physician. You will also perform front office duties. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Dental Assistant training program
  • Current American Heart Association BLS (Healthcare Provider) certification
  • At least six months of front desk/customer service experience

Nice To Haves

  • Dental assistant experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and greet and direct visitors
  • Schedule appointments using specified scheduling software for new patients and follow ups as needed
  • Performs necessary registration functions to include insurance verification, updating demographic information, and emergency contact information
  • Reviews all patient related forms for accuracy and completeness of information, assisting patients as necessary
  • Collects fees from patients for sliding scale dental procedures and records properly on cash sheet
  • Assist patients with sliding scale applications and assign proper sliding scale annually.
  • Relay messages from patients to clinicians
  • Assist in patient referrals as needed
  • Maintain dental records and files.
  • Ensures that patient information is kept confidential and that patient privacy is respected in accordance with current Health Information Privacy and Portability Act guidelines
  • Maintain stock of office supplies and notifies supervisor of items needed
  • Maintain lobby in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Handles sensitive patient issues tactfully in a calm, professional manner
  • Observe behavior of visitors in lobby and ask for assistance or notify manager
  • Exposing and processing of quality diagnostic radiographs as prescribed by the dentist, as needed
  • Assist the dentist with patient examination or procedure, as needed
