About The Position

International SOS Government Medical Services is seeking a Dental Assistant to support dental healthcare operations for U.S. personnel assigned overseas. This position supports licensed dentists with chairside procedures, patient care, imaging, sterilization, documentation, and clinic support functions in a fast-paced clinical environment. Requirements

  • Successful completion of a 2-year Dental Assistant program, OR a 2-year Dental Hygiene program accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA) Commission on Dental Accreditation that included at least 12 semester hours of coursework
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience with digital radiography and dental imaging systems
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Ability to meet overseas medical and administrative deployment requirements
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident status required
  • Valid U.S. Passport
  • Ability to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the assignment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required government background screening or clearance requirements
  • Must meet all pre-deployment medical and physical requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Active, unrestricted Dental Assistant license or registration preferred
  • Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) certification and/or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential preferred
  • 3+ years of recent Dental Assistant experience preferred, including at least six months within the past year
  • Entry-level candidates may be considered based on education and training
  • Previous military healthcare, federal healthcare, or international healthcare experience preferred
  • Experience working in remote, overseas, or high-volume clinical environments preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during routine dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques
  • Prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and treatment areas
  • Perform traditional and digital dental imaging procedures
  • Maintain accurate patient charts, treatment documentation, and records
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and appointment confirmations
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care instructions
  • Follow infection control, sterilization, and OSHA safety standards
  • Support administrative functions including documentation, coding, and insurance verification
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering dental supplies
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and clinic staff to support efficient workflow
  • Complete required compliance and organizational training requirements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of clinic operations
