About The Position

Our Client, Teamsters Union 25 Health Services & Insurance Plan (TeamstersCare) is a multi-employer benefit fund that provides health benefits and clinical services to Teamsters Union members, retirees and their families. Their busy, growing dental practice is currently seeking a dependable, people-oriented Full-Time Dental Assistant (40 hours per week) to work in our Chelmsford, MA dental facility. The Role: The Dental Assistant will report to the Managing Dentist and be responsible for assisting with direct patient care along with front desk duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Massachusetts Dental Assistant License
  • Dental Assistant and X-Ray certification
  • CPR/AED Certification
  • Must maintain licensure by completing a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education per 2-year renewal cycle (TeamstersCare will cover the cost of continuing education)
  • Must be available to work a full-time 40-hour workweek which includes 2 weekdays until 8:00 pm and alternating Saturdays from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to make patient care judgments within the scope of the job.
  • Requires attention to detail, timeliness and follow-up on tasks.
  • Ability to interact with patients with tact and a supportive attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills, working knowledge of Eaglesoft is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Front desk duties as assigned.
  • Reviews electronic dental records for the day’s procedures.
  • Prepares route slips for the front desk detailing the patient’s needs for the next appointment or walks patient out on Eaglesoft.
  • Greets patients in the reception area and directs them to the appropriate dental operatory. Dismisses the patient at the end of the appointment.
  • Prepares patients for treatment, assists the dentist, and the hygienist when necessary.
  • Assists with periodontal charting. Writes notes on patient treatment recommendations dictated by dentist.
  • Cleans and disinfects the operatory after the patient has been treated.
  • Replenishes supplies in the operatory, sterilization room, and laboratory.
  • Takes and labels digital x-rays as directed by the dentist (current x-ray certification required).
  • Other duties as assigned by the dentist.
