About The Position
The Dental Assistant is a member of the dental team whose primary responsibilities are to prepare patients for a visit, check-in and check-out patients and schedule appointments and reappointments. Requirements
- Active Dental Assisting Certificate in the state of Iowa
- Iowa Radiology Certification, or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire
Nice To Haves
- Sterilization Certification a plus
- Previous training and experience in dental assisting preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepares, cleans, and sets up operatories for patient appointments
- Takes and mounts dental radiographs (x-rays)
- Prepares sterile instruments and equipment
- Prepares patients for their appointment and discharge
- Asks about patient's medical history
- Takes blood pressure and pulse
- Performs dental assistant duties per provider workflow and practice
- Provides and assists with patient discharge
- Provides patients with instruction for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedure
- Registers patients for appointment, if necessary
- Assists with documentation for accurate billing and charting
