About The Position

The Dental Assistant supports dentists and dental hygienists in delivering high-quality patient care by providing chairside assistance, preparing treatment rooms and materials, taking dental radiographs, sterilizing instruments, maintaining patient records, and promoting a positive patient experience. This role helps ensure efficient clinical operations while supporting HICHC's mission of providing accessible, comprehensive, and culturally sensitive healthcare services.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, families, and diverse populations.
• Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, confidentiality, and excellent patient service.
• Ability to learn new skills, follow instructions, and maintain accurate records.

Nice To Haves

• Previous dental assistant experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists and hygienists during preventive, restorative, and oral surgery procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, supplies, and dental materials for patient care.
• Take and process dental radiographs as directed by providers.
• Maintain sterilization protocols and infection control standards in compliance with OSHA requirements.
• Document patient information, treatment notes, health histories, and consent forms in the electronic health record.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and support preventive dental care initiatives.
• Maintain inventory of dental supplies and assist with laboratory procedures.
• Foster a welcoming, compassionate environment for patients and families.
• Support HICHC's Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model and interdisciplinary care approach.
