About The Position

Responsible for assisting the Dentist in providing dental care to the patients of Variety Care. This role involves preparing patients for treatment, arranging instruments and materials, performing four-handed dentistry, sterilizing instruments, taking digital X-Rays, maintaining equipment, and keeping the operatory and lab neat and aseptic. Expanded functions may be performed if certification allows, such as coronal polishing, sealants, N2O administration, and X-Rays. The Dental Assistant will also call patients into the clinic and may be required to float between Variety Care Dental locations as directed by the Dental Practice Administrator. The position supports Variety Care’s commitment to Patient Centered Medical Home principles and the goals of the “Triple Aim” in healthcare reform. The ideal candidate will embody strong character qualities including compassion, dependability, discretion, flexibility, gentleness, and initiative, acting as a leader and problem-solver.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to obtain a Dental Assistant permit from the Board of Dentistry within 30 days of beginning employment.
  • Basic organizational skills.
  • Experience working with handling confidential information.
  • Experience working in a multi-faceted, fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 expanded function/certificate in Radiation Safety and Protection, Coronal Polishing and Topical Fluoride, Nitrous Oxide Application, or Sealant Application.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English).

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Dentist in providing dental care to patients.
  • Prepares patients for dental treatment and discusses treatment plans.
  • Arranges dental instruments and materials for procedures.
  • Performs Four-Handed Dentistry in coordination with Dentists.
  • Sterilizes and cleans instruments.
  • Takes appropriate digital X-Rays.
  • Maintains dental and office equipment.
  • Keeps operatory and lab neat and aseptic.
  • Performs expanded functions if certification allows (coronal polishing, sealants, N2O, and X-Rays).
  • Calls patients into the dental clinic from the waiting area.
  • Floats to different Variety Care Dental locations as directed by the Dental Practice Administrator.
  • Supports Variety Care’s accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home.
  • Provides leadership and works with staff to achieve the goals of the “Triple Aim”.
  • Embodies strength of personal character, open and honest communication, high moral and ethical conduct, integrity, adaptability, and sound judgment.
  • Acts as a leader in the department and community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
