About The Position

Heck Family Dentistry is looking for an experienced Dental Assistant to join their busy, patient-focused team in Lawrence, KS. This role is ideal for someone with existing dental assisting knowledge who can thrive in a fast-paced clinical setting and effectively manage patient comfort, especially for those experiencing dental anxiety. The ideal candidate will possess a calm demeanor, excellent bedside manner, and the ability to build trust with nervous patients. An experienced DA is needed to seamlessly integrate into a busy practice, collaborate with a large team, and ensure the smooth operation of daily activities.

Requirements

Prior Dental Assistant experience required
Comfortable working in a fast-paced dental office
Strong chairside assisting skills
Excellent patient communication skills
Calm, confident, and compassionate with high-anxiety patients
Reliable, organized, and able to stay focused during a busy day
Team-first attitude
Ability to work well with a larger clinical and administrative team
Professional, dependable, and ready to contribute

Nice To Haves

Experience with sedation dentistry, implants, oral surgery, cosmetic dentistry, emergency dentistry, or advanced restorative procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist doctors during a variety of dental procedures
Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials
Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after treatment
Support anxious patients with a calm, reassuring, and professional approach
Take dental x-rays as needed
Maintain clean, stocked, and organized operatories
Follow infection control, sterilization, and OSHA standards
Accurately document clinical notes
Help the clinical team stay on schedule
Communicate clearly with doctors, hygienists, assistants, and front office team members
Jump in where needed to support the flow of a busy practice
