About The Position

La Cross Dental is looking for an experienced Dental Assistant to join our growing team in St. Clair County. This is an experienced position—prior dental assisting experience is REQUIRED. We are looking for someone who can step into the role with confidence, work efficiently alongside our doctors, anticipate the needs of the clinical team, and provide an exceptional experience for every patient. Requirements

  • Dental assisting experience is REQUIRED.
  • Previous dental assisting experience
  • Strong chairside assisting skills
  • Experience with dental radiographs including PA's, Pano, and FMX
  • Experience with tray setup, sterilization, and operatory turnover
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology and procedures
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy dental environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and accurate charting skills
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of the doctor and clinical team
  • Strong communication and patient-service skills
  • Ability to work independently while also being a dependable team player
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills
  • Experience with CareStack or similar dental practice management software

Nice To Haves

  • Expanded Functions (EF) experience or EF certification is a strong plus!

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and seat patients while creating a warm, professional patient experience
  • Provide efficient chairside dental assisting for a variety of procedures
  • Accurately chart treatment and clinical information
  • Anticipate the doctor's needs and maintain an efficient clinical workflow
  • Take and document patient blood pressure
  • Assist with nitrous administration
  • Prepare trays and materials for procedures
  • Complete thorough and efficient operatory turnover between patients
  • Take dental radiographs including PA's, Pano, and FMX
  • Take alginate impressions
  • Pour and trim models
  • Fabricate custom trays and retainers
  • Properly sterilize handpieces, instruments, and equipment
  • Maintain infection-control and sterilization standards
  • Provide patients with appropriate home-care instructions following procedures and surgeries
  • Escort patients to the front desk and communicate necessary follow-up information
  • Communicate treatment and follow-up needs accurately to the front office team
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked clinical environment
  • Assist the team with general office needs as necessary
