About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Dental Assistant for their Oral Surgery Clinic. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, VUMC is a leading institution in patient care, education, and research. The VMG Dental Assists & Hygienist department is looking for an individual to assist board-certified dentists in preventive, therapeutic, cosmetic, and other dental services. This role involves supporting oral and maxillofacial surgeons who treat patients with complex injuries, diseases, or deformities of the jaws and face, aiming to reduce pain and improve quality of life. The position is within the VMG Dental Assists & Hygienist organization and is part of the Allied Health field, which is experiencing rapid growth in healthcare.

Requirements

Sterilization Preparation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate sterilization preparation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
Patient Documentation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate patient documentation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
Dental Terminology (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate dental terminology in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
Patient Exam Room Care (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate patient exam room care in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
LIC-Registered Dental Assistant - Tennessee
Relevant Work Experience
Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
Less than 1 year of experience

Responsibilities

Performs dental assistant duties.
Prepares patient for procedure and/or exam.
Provides patient with instructions.
Maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
