Requirements

  • Successful completion of a 2-year dental assistant program or a 2-year ADA-accredited dental hygiene program with at least 12 semester hours of related coursework
  • Minimum 3 years of recent dental assisting experience, including at least 6 months within the past year; entry-level candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Current unrestricted Dental Assistant license or registration from a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia preferred
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting, dental imaging, sterilization, and patient documentation in a clinical environment
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Card holder required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (MRPT)
  • Valid U.S. passport with at least 18 months remaining prior to expiration and willingness to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the assignment
  • Ability to meet pre-deployment medical requirements and perform work involving prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) certification or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential
  • Previous military healthcare or international healthcare experience
  • Experience working in fast-paced or resource-limited clinical environments

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during routine and specialty dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques
  • Prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and treatment rooms in accordance with infection control standards
  • Perform dental imaging procedures using traditional and digital radiography systems
  • Maintain accurate patient records, appointment scheduling, and clinical documentation
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
  • Support daily clinic operations including supply inventory, ordering, billing coordination, coding, and insurance verification
  • Communicate effectively with patients, dentists, and interdisciplinary staff to support efficient clinic workflow
  • Complete required organizational, regulatory, and compliance training requirements
