About The Position

This position provides comprehensive direct dental patient care in accordance with Indian Health Service (IHS) standards, including examinations, restorative treatments, preventive services, oral health education, and accurate documentation in Electronic Health and Dental Records (EHR/EDR). The role requires cultural competence, flexibility to work in remote settings with potential travel, and a commitment to safety, quality improvement, and professional standards.

Requirements

  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.?
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.?
  • Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Certification from an accredited program or relevant on-the-job experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • BLS certification and preferred radiology certification
  • Background check and character investigation as per the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
  • Credentialing and fingerprinting required before starting.
  • Ability to work in Remote Areas and travel, if necessary, with weather-related travel challenges expected at some locations.
  • Proof of required immunizations and health clearances (including PPD/TB Gold, annual influenza vaccination, MMR, and Hepatitis B)
  • Ability to meet physical and training requirements established by IHS
  • Must be able to work in a safe manner following all safety rules and regulations.

  • Deliver targeted, culturally appropriate information to help individuals and groups understand health promotion and disease prevention information, policies, regulations, and local code.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including: Dental services including exams, restorative treatments, oral health education, and preventive care.
  • Diagnose and treat patients within professional scope and IHS standards.
  • Assist in patient care processes, ensuring adherence to safety, infection control, and IHS standards.
  • Complete and maintain patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Electronic Dental Record (EDR).
  • Comply with Joint Commission and CMS standards in a culturally competent manner.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and adhere to IHS and service unit policies.
  • Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and safety at all times
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with IHS staff, administration, therapists, nursing, and other team members to optimize care coordination
  • Follow all IHS, GPARDDU, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and notify nursing staff when medical attention is required
  • The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs.
