Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Registered dental assistant.
  • Dental radiology license from the State of NJ.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Pushing instrument cart- up to 50 lbs.
  • Lifts instrument cassettes and places them in appropriate bins.
  • Sitting and standing for dental assisting procedures.
  • Regular computer use.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and dental software programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Dental Residents, Hygienists, and the attendings of the Dental Department.
  • Know the dental equipment and materials.
  • Work with adult, pediatric, and special needs patients.
  • Move dental equipment and instruments.
  • Know dental computer skills.
  • Work with residents in a training program.
  • Prepare dental operatory according to OSHA guidelines.
  • Provide 4-handed dentistry and expanded function dental assisting as outlined in NJ State Board of Dentistry regulations.
  • Maintain equipment and log malfunctioning equipment in log book.
  • Take, develop, and mount phosphor plate radiographs and utilize direct digital radiographs.
  • Assist in management of emergency patients.
  • Record data for end-of-day check-out, eyewash, temperature, and other assigned functions.
  • Log lab cases, prepare for pick-up and delivery.
  • Maintain paperless chart.
  • Prepare implant equipment.
  • Prepare cart for delivery to Central Supply.
  • Perform dental inventory as required.
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned.
