About The Position

We are looking for skilled dental professionals who want to join our team at Naval Hospital Bremerton, Washington. Are you a Dental Assistant who takes pride in precise chairside support and keeping a busy clinic running smoothly? Join our team at Naval Hospital Bremerton, where you’ll assist dentists across restorative, oral surgery, endodontic, and periodontal care, take radiographs, and help keep patients comfortable, informed, and on schedule.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited dental assistant program (CODA-accredited, military, or Red Cross) with at least 12 months of dental assisting experience in the last 3 years — OR — 36 months of dental assisting experience within the last 5 years.
  • Training that covered radiation safety, X-ray technique, film/digital processing, and film mounting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (in-person, not web-based).
  • Current dental radiography certification.
  • Active, unrestricted credentials in good standing.
  • A 10-digit National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • U.S. citizenship (or eligibility to work on a federal military installation).
  • Ability to pass a background check and obtain a base access ID.
  • Up-to-date immunizations, TB screening, and a recent physical exam.
  • Comfortable wearing required PPE: scrubs, mask, gloves, and respirator.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with electronic dental records (Dentrix and/or MHS Genesis) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist with restorative, prosthodontic, oral surgical, endodontic, and periodontal procedures.
  • Take preliminary impressions, remove sutures, and place and remove rubber dams, perio-packs, matrix bands, and wedges.
  • Pour and trim models from impressions and construct custom impression trays.
  • Operate dental X-ray equipment to take intra-oral and extra-oral radiographs; maintain and perform minor repairs on imaging equipment.
  • Sterilize instruments and prepare surgical trays; keep all dental equipment clean and in working order.
  • Schedule patients, record medical history, chart exam and treatment information, and note prescription details.
  • Share post-treatment instructions and teach patients proper brushing, flossing, and dental care techniques.
  • Use Dentrix and MHS Genesis (the clinic’s electronic dental record systems) for patient scheduling and documentation.
