About The Position

Centurion is seeking a part-time Dental Assistant to join its team at North Idaho Correctional Institution in Cottonwood, Idaho. Centurion provides comprehensive healthcare services to the Idaho Department of Correction and other government and community settings. The Dental Assistant works under direct supervision, assisting the Dentist and/or Dental Hygienist with chairside dentistry in a correctional setting. The position is 12 hours per week, consisting of two six-hour day shifts, with flexible hours. Compensation is $19.00–$20.25 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Completion of a technical school program in dental assisting or six months of experience as a dental assistant.
• Idaho dental assistant license or ability to obtain one.
• Maintain current tuberculosis screening documentation.
• Maintain active CPR certification.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance, including a drug screen and criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as an expanded duty dental assistant is preferred; candidates without a current certificate must obtain one during the first year of employment.
• Certification and/or previous experience performing dental X-rays is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Dentist and/or Dental Hygienist with chairside dentistry under direct supervision.
• Prepare and sterilize dental instruments.
• Prepare and maintain the dental operatory.
• Operate radiographic equipment.
• Perform additional administrative tasks as needed.
