About The Position

Sun River Health is seeking a full-time Dental Assistant/Trainer to join their team in Beacon, NY, supporting the Hudson Valley region. This role involves assisting dentists and hygienists at sites with temporary staff shortages due to absences. The position also includes training new dental assistants and patient representatives when direct clinical work is not required. The Dental Assistant/Trainer is expected to perform all standard dental assistant duties and ensure compliance with job-specific standards and systems.

Requirements

High School diploma/GED
Vocational / Technical School / Diploma Program in Dental Assisting
Minimum 2 years of work-related experience

Nice To Haves

Bilingual in both English and Spanish (orally and written)

Responsibilities

Assisting Dentists/Hygienists as needed at sites with short-term staff shortages.
Performing all usual functions and responsibilities of a dental assistant.
Training dental assistants and patient representatives when not providing direct clinical contact.
Maintaining supplies and instruments in the dental operatory.
Maintaining the dental laboratory, processing instruments, and monitoring lab cases.
Pouring study models.
Performing curing light monitoring monthly.
Maintaining water lines and following DUWL protocol.
Preparing and submitting health specialty referrals and predeterminations.
Assisting dentists/hygienists with patient care.
Reassigning to other dental sites when coverage is needed to keep sites operational.
Providing oversight of dental staff and reporting issues to the Dentist and Director of Dental Operations.
Orienting and training new dental support staff onsite during their first week of employment, documenting progress and assessing competency.
