About The Position

The Ohio State University College of Dentistry seeks a Dental Assistant (DA) to join its Orthodontic Division. The Orthodontics Division provides excellent, comprehensive orthodontic treatment for all ages. The orthodontic faculty members are leaders in their profession, and you will work with respected clinicians and educators work along with our orthodontic resident to provide the best care to our patients.

Requirements

• 1 year experience in dental office practices and procedures
• Dental operatory practices and procedures
• Four-handed assisting techniques
• Inventory record-keeping
• Care of dental equipment
• Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and internet/email.

Nice To Haves

• Orthodontic experience, preferably in a dental setting desired
• Experience and knowledge of a wide variety of dental instruments
• 2-4 years’ experience in an educational setting
• Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and internet/email desired.

Responsibilities

• Direct chairside orthodontic assisting for all Ortho residents, dental students, and faculty in the orthodontic clinic in the College of Dentistry
• Dispenses, receives, processes/sterilizes
• Purchases instruments, equipment and supplies used in the delivery of orthodontic treatment
• Provides oral hygiene instructions
• Ensures efficient operation during faculty and clinical sessions
• Fabricates vacuum formed retainers
• Pours and trims models
• Organizes records system
• Reviews financing options with new patients
• Interfaces with patients, parents, faculty, Ortho residents, dental assistants, and staff in the graduate Ortho clinic.
