About The Position

Responsible for assisting the Dentist in providing dental care to the patients of Variety Care. This role involves preparing patients for treatment, arranging instruments and materials, performing four-handed dentistry, sterilizing instruments, taking digital X-Rays, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the operatory and lab are kept neat and aseptic. Expanded functions such as coronal polishing, sealants, N2O administration, and X-Rays are also part of the responsibilities if certification allows. The Dental Assistant Senior will call patients into the clinic, float to different Variety Care Dental locations as needed, and support the organization's commitment to Patient Centered Medical Home principles and the "Triple Aim" of healthcare reform. The role requires embodying strong character qualities, being an open and honest communicator, demonstrating high moral and ethical conduct, integrity, adaptability, and sound judgment. The individual must be a leader, a results-oriented problem solver, and responsible and accountable.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of Dental Assisting training and/or work experience.
  • Possesses all four expanded functions/certificates: Radiation Safety and Protection, Coronal Polishing and Topical Fluoride, Nitrous Oxide Application, or Sealant Application.
  • Must be able to obtain a Dental Assistant permit from the Board of Dentistry within 30 days of beginning employment.
  • Basic organizational skills.
  • Experience handling confidential information.
  • Experience working in a multi-faceted, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Dentist in providing dental care.
  • Preparing patients for dental treatment and going over treatment plans.
  • Arranging chairside dental instruments and materials.
  • Performing Four-Handed Dentistry in coordination with the Dentists.
  • Sterilizing and cleaning instruments.
  • Taking appropriate digital X-Rays.
  • Maintaining dental and office equipment.
  • Keeping the operatory and lab neat and aseptic.
  • Performing expanded functions if certification allows (coronal polishing, sealants, N2O, and X-Rays).
  • Calling patients into the dental clinic from the patient waiting area.
  • Working at any of the Variety Care Dental locations and floating to locations as directed by the Dental Practice Administrator.
  • Supporting Variety Care’s accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home and commitment to providing care that is Safe, Effective, Patient Centered, Timely, Efficient, and Equitable.
