Dental Assistant (Registered)
About The Position
The Family Health Services Clinics of the Health and Social Services Department is currently recruiting for Dental Assistant (Registered). The mission of Family Health Services (FHS) is to provide high-quality, comprehensive, accessible medical and dental care to support Solano County’s diverse community to live, learn and work with thriving health. We are committed to improving the quality of life locally by providing exceptional medical services, tracking and preventing the spread of disease, and promoting health and safety through education and communication. The Dental Assistant (Registered) will be assisting a dentist or dental hygienist in chair-side functions such as; application of topical agents, removal of dental dressings, and sutures. The incumbent will prepare patients for treatment and examination. Modified work schedules may be available. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.
Requirements
- Graduation from High School or General Education Diploma (GED) or a high school proficiency certificate.
- One (1) full year of full-time work experience as a dental assistant that demonstrates possession of and competency in the requisite knowledge and abilities; completion of a required course on dental assistance may be substituted for six (6) months of the required experience. (This experience requirement is typically met by the RDA Certificate).
- Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certificate from the Board of Dental Examiners, State of California
- Copy of their Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certificate
- Copy of their certificate to operate oral x-ray equipment by the State of California Board of Dental Examiners, Department of Consumer Affairs
- The certificate must meet the following criteria: Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certificate from the Board of Dental Examiners, State of California indicating license number and certification to operate oral x-ray equipment.
- License must be active at the time of application.
Responsibilities
- Assisting a dentist or dental hygienist in chair-side functions such as; application of topical agents, removal of dental dressings, and sutures.
- Prepare patients for treatment and examination.
