About The Position

Virginia Family Dentistry is seeking a Dental Assistant with experience in periodontics to join their Staples Mill team. Dental assistants are crucial in supporting the entire team of doctors, hygienists, clinical and administrative staff, with a primary focus on patient needs. The role requires knowledge of dental procedures, x-ray certification, OSHA regulations, and State Board requirements. The ideal candidate will be a team player, able to communicate effectively with colleagues and patients, and contribute to a positive work environment. This is a non-exempt, hourly position.

Requirements

1 year or more of dental experience
X-ray certification
BLS certification

Responsibilities

Provide chairside assistance to the dentists
Take x-rays
Stock, organize, and disinfect operatories
Ensure instrument sterilization and proper infection control protocol
Review the doctor’s schedule daily, set up and prepare for patient appointments with needed supplies, lab cases, implants and other necessary items
Input treatment plan given by the doctor
Keep the schedule on time and communicate with the front desk
Escort each patient to the front desk for check out
Maintain a lab tracking system to ensure all lab work is ready for the patients’ appointment
Ordering and unpacking supplies
Collaborate with the doctor scheduler on schedules and maintaining the unscheduled list by following up with the patients and needed treatment
Help the hygienists and administrative staff as needed
