About The Position

Pima Medical Institute is seeking a motivated Dental Assistant to step into a leadership and mentorship role as a Lead Instructor at their Aurora campus. This role involves shaping the next generation of dental professionals by providing clinical experience and influencing program excellence and student success. The position focuses on leadership, program oversight, curriculum excellence, faculty mentorship, and program effectiveness, alongside teaching, student support, clinical supervision, administrative duties, and ensuring compliance with safety and standards.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program OR a combination of three (3) years of job-related training and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time, practical dental assisting experience.
  • Current CDA (DANB) or EDDA (Expanded Duties Dental Assistant) credentials as recognized in Colorado.
  • Expertise in four/six-handed dentistry principles and proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Program Advisory Board meetings; report on student progress, externship outcomes, and feedback from the Colorado Springs dental community.
  • Lead comprehensive curriculum reviews and recommend updates during program revision cycles to ensure students are learning the most current industry standards.
  • Orient new hires and serve as a mentor to faculty members, ensuring consistent instructional quality and a supportive teaching environment.
  • Update and maintain Program Effectiveness Plans (PEP) annually to meet institutional and accreditation standards.
  • Deliver dynamic, engaging lessons using varied teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Provide timely feedback (within 72 hours) on assignments and clinical work; advise students on academic or behavioral concerns to ensure they remain on track for graduation.
  • Lead lab sessions and practical demonstrations, ensuring students master four/six-handed dentistry principles and radiation safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and incidents within the campus management system.
  • Ensure all clinical environments meet strict OSHA/infection control standards and oversee student externships at local dental practices.
