About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Chief Dental Officer, the Dental Assistant IV - Lead is responsible for patient care, inventory and supply management, dental clinic organization, and ensuring a quality patient experience. The Dental Assistant Lead is responsible for providing ongoing training and mentoring to other dental assistant staff.

Requirements

  • Must have certification and 3-5 years’ of progressive dental assisting experience required, 8-10 years’ of progressive dental assisting experience may be substituted for education/certification.
  • Dental assisting certification from an accredited college or technical school.
  • Must have and maintain a current Basic Life Support (CPR) certificate.
  • Fully competent to perform all requirements of Dental Assistant II, III
  • Maintains clinic inventory
  • Acts as a mentor and preceptor for Dental Assistant I, II, III

Nice To Haves

  • Community or Rural Dental care experience preferred.
  • Cornel polishing certification preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides initial and ongoing training for new hires, existing dental clinical and support staff, and ensures competency check off is completed.
  • Ensures smooth clinic flow with providers and dental assistants.
  • Creates, maintains and updates the dental assisting and Sterilization procedure manual.
  • Assists in the coordination of dental equipment repair, and manages supply ordering and inventory, processing lab invoices.
  • Performs all related dental assistant duties including; operatory set up, Prepares appropriate instruments and set up for procedures, operatory maintenance between patients, ongoing sterilization and disinfection, patient intake including history, records chief complaint, vitals, and dental radiographs/panoramic x-ray under the direction of the Dentist as necessary.
  • Provides staff training on Cone beam and Prime mill/Prime Scan.
  • Ensures and assists in the coordination of patient care including scheduling, patient follow-up and patient education including Oral Hygiene Instructions.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information and ensures clinical staff is compliant with HIPAA guidelines
  • Maintaining waterlines by shocking operatories and hygiene cavitrons monthly and managing and coordinating quarterly water testing.
  • Records information concisely, accurately, and completely.
  • Manages daily quality control processes.
  • Support duties such as assisting other members of the dental staff, stocking and cleaning exam rooms, cleaning, wrapping and autoclaving instruments.
  • Provides back up for Sterilization as needed.
  • Managing Bi-Annual sterilization of all instruments throughout the dental clinic.
  • Develop material and take minutes for break out meetings for dental assistants and the sterilization technician
  • Ensures Sterilization weekly and monthly duties are being efficiently completed.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area
  • May serve on ad hoc committees
