About The Position

Dental assistants are responsible for providing the patient with high quality care by performing a variety of office, laboratory, and patient care duties. This usually entails helping the dentist handle patients, instruments, and supplies during the treatment of the teeth, mouth, and gums. Dental assistants also document patient care and take x-rays. Under Direct supervision in a thorough and expedient manner, provide chair side dental assistance to the dentist, resident, or faculty. Provide clinical support in dental care operations; assist in the development of treatment plans for patients. Perform duties generally governed by broad instructions, objectives, policies that involve frequently changing conditions.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma, completion of an ADA accredited dental assisting course and 3 years of dental assisting experience OR a high school diploma and 5 years dental assisting experience.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
  • Must have successfully completed the SC LLR and Board of Dentistry approved Radiation Safety certification structured course and exam.
  • Completion of a South Carolina Radiation Safety course and exam Board approved radiation safely course also required.
