About The Position
Smile Starters is a general dental practice serving children and young adults ages 1 through 20. The Dental Assistant II works in a collaborative team alongside dental professionals in a positive, supportive environment, helping provide care and educate patients on oral health. The position is based at the Fayetteville, North Carolina location and is full time. A dental assisting diploma is listed as the education level.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited dental assistant program.
- CPR certification.
- Coronal polishing certification.
- Proven experience as a dental assistant.
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Strong computer skills for scheduling and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable.
- Ability to thrive in a busy, active work environment.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks, such as coronal polishing.
- Nitrous Oxide (N2O) certification.
- Additional certifications or training.
- Bilingual abilities.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and families to the office professionally and warmly.
- Conduct pre- and post-operative patient consultations.
- Prepare patients for treatments or checkups and help ensure their comfort.
- Select, prepare, and arrange instruments, equipment, and materials for procedures.
- Sterilize instruments according to regulatory standards.
- Assist the dentist chairside using four-handed dentistry.
- Perform lab-related tasks as instructed.
- Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked operatory.
- Schedule appointments and assist with payment procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Support the dental team with other duties as assigned.
