As a Dental Assistant I – Sterilization, you will play an important role in supporting our clinical team and ensuring instruments, equipment, and treatment areas are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for patient care. With multiple locations throughout Charlotte, Gaston, and Fort Mill, we offer opportunities to work alongside experienced dental professionals in a positive and rewarding setting. We are currently seeking a part-time Dental Assistant I - Sterilization to join our team at South Park Pediatric Dentistry. In this role, you will play an important part in supporting our clinical team by ensuring instruments and treatment areas are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for patient care while maintaining our high standards for safety and infection control.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program or school.
  • Must have the following certifications: X-Ray/Radiology, Sterilization, and Infection Control.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Understanding of OSHA and infection control standards
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow established procedures consistently
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Dependable, punctual, and safety-focused
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Strong communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous dental assisting or sterilization experience preferred
  • Knowledge of dental instruments and infection control procedures preferred
  • Bilingual is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Clean, disinfect, package, and sterilize dental instruments according to established infection control protocols
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and properly document sterilization processes
  • Prepare and organize instruments and supplies for dental procedures
  • Maintain sterilization areas in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition
  • Monitor inventory levels of instruments, sterilization supplies, and other clinical materials
  • Ensure sterilized instruments are properly stored and readily available for clinical use
  • Follow all OSHA, CDC, and practice infection control guidelines
  • Assist clinical team members with room turnover and operatory preparation as needed
  • Maintain accurate sterilization and infection control records
  • Identify and report equipment or sterilization concerns promptly
  • Support the dental team in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient clinical environment
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist across practice locations as needed
