Position Summary: Perform routine tasks assisting the professional dental staff and students in the examination and prophylactic, therapeutic and surgical treatment of patients. Works under direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Basic office or computer skills.
  • Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
  • Dental Assistant by Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a recognized dental assistant educational program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the teaching of dental students, dental assisting students, and dental hygiene students in the principles of four-handed dentistry and dental assistant utilization (DAU).
  • Provides chair side assistance to students and faculty.
  • Maintains sterile, and prepares equipment, instruments, and supplies within working area.
  • Maintains infection control standards.
  • Maintains records of patients seen, procedures performed, materials used, and appointments.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
